| Steve Hasbrouck
I was born in Waterloo , Iowa , November 4th,1947. I resided there until I joined the Navy in 1966 at age 18. I served aboard an aircraft carrier, the USS America and saw a tour in the Mediteranean Sea and a tour in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam. I came home in 1968 at age 20, my service completed. In 1969 I met my future wife Sandi. We were married in 1970 and moved to Colorado in 1971. We bought our first and only home in Colorado in 1972 and have lived there, at 1084 Western Dr. in Cimmarron Hills ever since. Sandi and I found that medically, we couldn't have children. So in 1980 we adopted a boy and in 1982 we adopted a girl from El Paso County Social Services. In February 2000 we lost our son in an auto accident. Our daughter and grand-daughter live in Sunnyvale , California .
Sandi and I have worn many hats in our lives. We have mastered many skills and owned several businesses, but what we care about most in life are family, friends, God and our country. |
| Reginald D. Perry, a 45-year-old retired disabled veteran, husband and father of three.
I grew up in Daytona where I attended Seabreeze Senior School and graduated in 1980. I later joined the Military.
My military career was in the tele-commununications field where I advanced rank at a rapid pace. I took a few college night courses throughout my career and received an Associates Degree in General Studies in 1994. I could not attend college full-time because of my work responsibilities, but the desire was present. During the Gulf War (Desert Storm), I received the Bronze Star Medal for my contributions to the First Calvary Division communication network. I retired in 2000 and moved to Colorado Springs , but could not find employment, so I went to work for Nortel Networks, Inc as a Senior Wireless Technician. For the next 18 months, I installed and commissioned wireless systems for AT&T on the west coast in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
Three years ago, after my son, Jonathan, was born, I took a downsizing layoff package in hopes of finding employment in the Colorado Springs area. Over the next six months, that opportunity never materialized, so I decided to return to school and utilize my Veterans Administration benefits. I was now in a position to fulfill my desire to continue pursuing my education.
